Legal Billing Clerk

Overview:

The Billing Clerk will manage all aspects of client billing and monitor collections in conjunction with the Accounting Manager or Executive Director.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Billing Clerk will be responsible for processing monthly client bills, managing the electronic billing process, monitoring client payments, and flagging those that need attention or become late.

Specific Duties:

Prepares monthly pre-bills and distributes to attorneys / legal assistants.

Processes changes made by attorneys and finalizes bills.

Distributes by email or U.S. mail.

Tracks pre-bills and invoices through the process to ensure all client invoices are sent monthly.

Enters client payments from checks and ACH payments.

Keeps accurate records of what client expenses have been paid for and coordinates with the Accounting Team for vendor payments.

Assists with the updates and maintenance of the accounting software.

Qualifications:

Minimum of two years of experience as a full lifecycle biller in a law firm or other professional services firm.

Working knowledge of accounting procedures and processes.

Effective organizational, communication, and people skills required.

Must collaborate effectively with other motivated professionals in a demanding environment.

Proven proficiency in the MS Suite of applications and legal time and billing systems.

Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods and to lift 25lbs on a regular basis.
