Description We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Labor Relations Investigator to join a leading healthcare provider in the East Bay on a contract/temporary basis. The ideal candidate will have experience in acute care settings, with a focus on investigating labor relations issues, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and policy violations. This role requires a professional with strong investigation and interviewing skills, who is capable of managing sensitive, confidential, and time-critical matters. Union experience is a plus, as you will need to interpret contracts and understand relevant rules, such as the Weingarten Act.Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough investigations into complaints of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and other violations of company policies.
Analyze complex information and prepare comprehensive investigation reports for senior leadership, including the Office of General Counsel, Chief of Compliance, and Director of Labor Relations.
Manage whistleblower complaints, ensuring timely and appropriate responses in line with company policies.
Communicate investigation results clearly and accurately, both verbally and in writing, to internal stakeholders and external agencies as needed.
Ensure strict confidentiality throughout the investigation process while maintaining neutrality and professionalism.
Serve as the organization’s representative with external agencies on employment-related complaints.
Partner with HR and other departments to ensure legal and regulatory compliance and consistent application of policies.
Monitor and document trends within the department and recommend improvements to investigation processes.
Requirements
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
At least 2 years of experience in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or a similar investigative role.
Must have experience working in an acute care healthcare environment.
Experience with union contracts and familiarity with Weingarten Act rules is a plus.
Proven ability to conduct complex and sensitive investigations, with strong interviewing and report-writing skills.
Strong ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple assignments while maintaining attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to deliver concise and accurate reports.
Thorough knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to employment practices, confidentiality, and whistleblower protections.
Ability to remain neutral, objective, and professional throughout investigations.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software tools.
Knowledge of state and federal agencies (EEOC, DFEH, OFCCP, OCR, DOL) and their role in the complaint process is highly preferred.
