Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to assist in the day-to-day financial/accounting operations for multiple growing business lines. This role is essential to keeping our financial processes organized, compliant, and efficient. The ideal candidate is hands-on, self-starter, reliable, and comfortable wearing multiple hats. The position reports directly to the Company’s Controller but will also work closely with the Senior Executive team. Key Responsibilities:
Record and reconcile all financial transactions, including invoices, payments, and bank activity.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger and journal entries.
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
Assist in the processing of payroll and ensure compliance with relevant tax laws.
Assist with budgeting and cash flow forecasting.
Working with external CPA’s or tax preparer during tax and audit seasons.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
Suggest improvements to accounting processes and systems.
Reconciling all bank statements.
Investigating and resolving discrepancies in all reconciliations, accounts payable and receivables.
Maintaining accurate records to ensure all transactions are properly recorded and documented.
Comparing financial records with bank statements to identify and resolve discrepancies. Generate reconciliation reports including adjustments needed and outstanding items.
Receive, verify, and accurately enter invoices and credit card transactions into the accounting system. Ensure invoices match goods or services have been received.
Preparing and processing payments via checks, ACH, or other methods.
Maintaining and entering vendor information and resolving discrepancies.
Maintaining accurate and organized records of all transactions.
Assisting with month-end close and preparing reports related to accounts payable.
Ensuring all transactions comply with company policies and relevant sales and use tax.
Interacting with vendors, internal departments, and IT to resolve issues and answer inquiries.
Creating and sending invoices and support to customers for goods or services
Handling various payment methods and ensuring timely application of payments.
Contacting customers with overdue invoices and driving improvements with customer collection timing.
Maintaining positive customer relationships and addressing any inquiries or disputes.
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance, or related field experience.
2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a small business or startup environment.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel, etc.). SAP B1 experience is a plus.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and basic financial principles.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
A solid understanding of business principles and financial concepts.
Nice to Have Qualifications:
Familiarity with inventory or project-based accounting.
Previous experience in the wine/winery industries as well as high dollar wholesale and retail business lines.
Previous experience working in with multi business line businesses.
