Full Charge Bookkeeper, Employee or 1099. Start ASAP. Approx $35/hr.
Dog is Good, located in Los Alamitos, creates and sells apparel and gift products for dog lovers (dogisgood.com). The company is a wholesale and online operation (dogisgood.com) and licenses the brand to numerous manufacturers. We maintain a high-energy, positively charged and fast-paced environment which is both fun and rewarding. We place a lot of value on finding people who don’t just have the right skills, but fit the culture of the team.
We operate on Quickbooks Enterprise with remote desktop and 5 active users to varying degrees. We also use bill.com for payables.
The team is very small. Three on payroll, 2 on contract.
We have outsourced 95 percent of manufacturing and fulfillment to a partner who manufactures our apparel products.
Shopify knowledge is preferred but not mandatory. We have Shopify Plus connected to QBD with an automatic synch.
We continue to streamline operations as we transition to function primarily as a brand HQ
This position reports to the CEO/Owner. For the right candidate, this job can be done almost entirely remotely with occasional check-ins for going through mail and in-person meetings. The job can reasonably be done in 20 hours/week. Our bookkeeper’s position is critical to improving and following ongoing processes, and it is essential to keep the ball moving forward.
The essential job duties shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
1. Full cycle Accounts Receivable, including preparation of monthly invoices and maintaining customer and vendor records
2. Full cycle Accounts Payable including: purchase orders and vendor records maintenance
3. Bank reconciliations for depository accounts
4. Reconcile all balance sheet accounts; reviewing for input accuracy and prepare monthly reports and journal entries, as needed
5. General ledger maintenance
6. Understand and participate in inventory management in the QB environment
7. Prepare bi-weekly payroll and contractor payments
8. Administration of quarterly business and payroll taxes as needed
9. Prepare monthly financial statements
10. Maintain required business documents
11. Prepare annual 1099’s
12. Assistance with the annual budget and audit process
13. Maintain financial document retention files
14. New vendor setup and maintenance
15. Vendor statement reconciliation and discrepancies
16. Deposit and cash reports
17. Prepare and/or review of expense reports for accuracy and proper expense disclosure
18. Maintain complete filing system to support financial records
19. Perform other duties as may be requested by the CEO/Owner
20. Compute and pay sales commissions monthly (2-3 people)
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Accounting or Bookkeeping Certification
2. Proficient in QuickBooks Desktop
3. Good knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
4. 3-5 years Full Charge Bookkeeping experience
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office
6. Must have experience working in a product distribution environment where hundreds of SKUs are present
7. Tech savvy – can figure stuff out and/or call tech support by yourself
