Job Title: Full-Time Live-in Caregiver

Pay: $18-22 per hour (based on experience)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Open position for a Full-Time Live-in Caregiver at a 6-bed Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) in Orange County. We are committed to creating a welcoming, warm environment for the residents who call our community home. The Caregiver must provide resident-centered care with compassion and nurturing, focusing on actively engaging seniors in any care they receive. The ideal candidate should have good communication skills, must have a neat appearance, be kind, patient and calm with good organizational skills. As a member of a larger team, the Caregiver contributes to the health and well-being of all residents by providing care based on residents’ needs and care plan, or as directed by management. We are looking for a trustworthy individual who has a desire to work with seniors, helping them thrive in a residential home.

Shift availability:

8 - 12hour shifts

Day Shift (Preferred)

Evening/Night Shift (Preferred)

Weekends

Holidays (Major paid holidays)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Ensures that quality personal care and hygiene is given by brushing and flossing of teeth, helping with showers, bed baths, shampooing, shaving, hair grooming and general skin care, including assistance with toileting and incontinence care.

Prepare and cook healthy meals and snacks that meet dietary restrictions for residents.

Give medication reminders, administer medication timely, correctly and document each time.

Maintain a safe, sanitary, clean, and tidy home for residents.

Supports activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding patients as necessary; ambulating, turning, and positioning patients; provides fresh water and snacks between meal and bedtime snacks.

Maintains patient stability by checking vital signs, recording relevant information.

Observes any changes in resident physical or mental status and communicates to the Administrator or Manager.

Provides laundry and housekeeping services to residents.

Provides patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering patients' call lights and requests; reporting observations of the patient to Administer or Manager.

Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.

Assists with resident activity programs as assigned.

Complies with HIPAA Privacy Act by protecting confidential patient information.

Follows all policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment. Looks for ways to improve community functioning.

Able and willing to provide a comfortable and loving environment while ensuring a sense of inclusion and normalization in a family and community setting by assisting our clients with becoming as independent as possible.

Ensure that each client is comfortable so that they can exercise their rights and choices. Able and willing to reinforce elderly residents’ life quality outcomes such as choices, relationships, lifestyle, health and well-being, rights, and satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

Must be 18 years or older.

Must have at least 9 months prior hands-on experience providing direct care and special services to the elderly; developmentally disabled caregiving experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Must have current health screening and TB test. Negative TB test result must be within 6 months.

Must have current fingerprint clearance/Livescan prior to employment from DOJ and FBI.

Must be fully vaccinated with COVID-19 immunization and must include a booster shot.

Must be CPR and First Aid Certified.

Strong desire to work with the elderly.

English literate and with strong written and verbal communication skills. Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply.

Must demonstrate on an ongoing basis the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with co-workers.

Consistently demonstrates a pleasant demeanor, tone of voice, supports the philosophy and approach to care used by the Community.

Ability to multitask and willingness to learn.

Keeps resident information confidential; respects resident’s rights, respects privacy and right to self-determination of residents.

Capable of working overtime and alternate shifts as needed. This position may require work on evenings, weekends and holidays.

Comes to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrates dependability and punctuality.
