Human Resources Generalist

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Human Resources Generalist to join our team. This role is essential in supporting various HR functions and ensuring effective workforce management. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of human capital management, employee evaluation, and organizational design. You will play a key role in fostering a positive work environment while assisting with recruiting, training development, and payroll processes.

Responsibilities

Oversee recruiting; hiring; training and development; performance planning, management, and improvement; and succession planning.

Interviews job applicants; reviews applications/resumes; evaluates applicant skills and makes recommendations regarding applicant's qualifications. Administers background screenings and the adverse action process.

Manages employee benefit programs and ACA reporting.

HR administration: Enters data changes in Paylocity for new hires, terms, salary actions, address changes, deductions, liens, etc.

Employee Relations: Conducts investigations, drafts corrective actions, and administers the separation process.

Manages Workers Compensation claims.

Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.

Compensation: Creates and updates job descriptions, conducts market pricing, and administers merit increases.

Administers leaves of absence.

Oversees employee safety, welfare, wellness and health. Maintains OSHA logs.

Responds to third party notices including UI Claims and subpoenas.

Organizes employee appreciation events

Serves as the subject matter expert in employment law and employee relations and communication.

Organization development and change management.

Maintains Handbook, policies, and labor law postings. Policy development, documentation, and implementation.

Performs other related duties and tasks as necessary or as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of human resources administration in the areas of recruitment, employment law, compensation, compliance, training and employee development.

Good working knowledge of federal and state law governing Human Resources.

Knowledge of managing complex employment relations issues. Ability to effectively manage and resolve conflicts.

Excellent written, oral, and computer skills.

Ability to speak in public to large groups.

Strong Excel and Word skills.

Strong interpersonal skills to assist and communicate with staff and clients. Must possess the ability to communicate well with all levels of employees.

Must have a high level of integrity and maintain confidentiality at all times.

Ability to gather and analyze data, reason logically and creatively, draw conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.

Ability to prioritize and organize, work well under stress, meet deadlines.

Ability to be flexible and adapt to constant change.

Ability to work flexible hours as required meeting deadlines.

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or comparable, with two years Human Resources Generalist experience; or a combination of education and experience, with a minimum of four years as a Human Resources Generalist.

HR Certification (through HRCI or SHRM) preferred.

Knowledge of employment law.

PHR or SHRM-CP, a plus.

Bi-lingual Spanish, a plus.
