Shady Canyon Golf Club is one of the premier clubs in Southern California, located in Irvine. Tom Fazio designed a challenging golf course laid out over 300 acres in a natural setting. The course was established in 2002, and shortly thereafter received Audubon certification. Shady Canyon is a private club offering Golf and Social memberships. Member dining is available six days a week. Members can choose to dine in the Talon Room and Bar, Men's Grill or Ladies' Grill. We also offer a Golf Snack Bar and a seasonal Pool Snack Bar. The AIT works under the Director of Agronomy and Assistant golf course Superintendents in a supervisory capacity. Responsibilities include delegating work assignments, overseeing daily course maintenance and inspecting course conditions.
Job Duties:
-Assist in planning and supervising the maintenance of greens, tees, and fairways; schedules work and supervises the employees and the use of equipment.
-Assist in personnel management, evaluation, disciplinary actions, and employee safety, and may also modify the daily work schedule based on professional interpretation.
-Supervises special projects and labor crews.
-Reports golf course conditions to Director of Agronomy and Assistant Superintendents.
-Performs golf course set up prior to play.
-Irrigation repair and maintenance.
-Applies pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, fertilizers and other chemicals at appropriate times to maintain excellent conditions on the golf course, in the absence of the spray technician.
-Documents all chemical applications under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent.
-Employee may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the company as requested by the Supervisor.
Qualifications:
-Working knowledge of the maintenance of golf course tees, fairways, greens; the seeding and maintenance practices for golf turf; the planning, cultivating, pruning and caring for plants, shrubs and trees; the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners and pest control methods and materials; drainage control methods; and irrigation system, including wells, pumps and automatic controls.
- Ability to schedule and supervise maintenance work to achieve the most efficient utilization of workers and equipment; to prepare clear and concise reports; and to maintain effective employee and public relations.
-Requires a degree in turf management.
-Prefer a minimum of 1 year golf course maintenance supervisory experience.
-Possession of a valid driver's license.
-Current state certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator preferred.
