GROUNDWORKER-NURSERY WORKER
West Coast Arborists, Inc. (WCA) was established in 1972. A union and family-owned company is providing professional tree maintenance and management services for over 330 municipalities and public agencies throughout California and Arizona.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Provide labor under the direction of the Foreman to bring about completion of nursery maintenance jobs. Involves skillful use of vehicles and equipment. Requires a strong personal consideration for safety.
WORK HOURS
Typical hours are from 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., five days per week. Additional hours may be available upon request and are pre-scheduled.
SALARY RANGE
Starting salary is $22.75- up to $27.23 hr. + Fringe Benefits $8.48.
Total Compensation up to $35.71 (Payroll is paid weekly)

QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma
Read, speak & write English
Nursery Experience-preferred
Must be physically fit and pass pre-employment physical
A valid CA Driver’s License
Must pass company driving test
Ability to work in adverse conditions
Reliable transportation
REGULAR JOB DUTIES
Build Nursery Tree Boxes
Attend crew meetings
Load and unload trucks with nursery stock, plants, trees, logs, etc. and/or materials weighing up to or more than 50 lbs
Cleaning and weeding of yards
Transplanting nursery stock
Operate nursery equipment
Keep work area clean and orderly
Services/Fuels vehicles and equipment
Assist other crewmembers as needed
Care for equipment used in nursery operations
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES RECOMMENDED
Valid Driver’s License

JOB CLASS
Class IV: Heavy physical stress on back. Outside craftsman, involves frequent lifting (heavy) over 50 pounds, often combined with bending, twisting, working above ground or on irregular surfaces.
