Position Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated IEP Advocate to join our team. The IEP Advocate will play a crucial role in assisting families to navigate the complexities of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process. This position requires a strong understanding of special education law and a commitment to advocating for the rights of children with disabilities.
Responsibilities:
Provide IEP advocacy services to families of children with disabilities.
Review and analyze IEPs, evaluations, and other relevant documents.
Attend IEP meetings with families to provide support and guidance.
Negotiate with school districts to ensure students receive appropriate services and accommodations.
Empower families to advocate for their children's needs effectively.
Stay up-to-date on special education laws and regulations.
Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in education, special education, social work, or a related field.
In-depth knowledge of federal and state special education laws (IDEA).
Experience working with children with disabilities and their families.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Education Advocate) are highly valued.
