Paralegal/Legal Assistant

Bohm Wildish & Matsen, LLP law firm has a full-time opening for a Paralegal/Legal Assistant in its Costa Mesa office (near South Coast Plaza) for its Litigation Department. Applicants must possess an ABA Paralegal Certificate and have a minimum of five years’ experience with general litigation proceedings as well as familiarity with probate/trust litigation filing and procedures.

We seek highly motivated, dedicated and hard-working individuals who will provide excellent service to our clients. Someone who is proactive, has a positive attitude and has the ability to work effectively as a member of a team is essential. This is an in-office position; however, a hybrid schedule is available depending upon successful work performance.

Qualifications: The successful candidate must possess comprehensive knowledge of legal office procedures. We are looking for someone with a great work ethic, a high-level of attention to detail and accuracy as well as excellent organizational skills and time management to handle billable and administrative duties with minimal supervision. Applicants must also demonstrate a professional demeanor, strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and be trustworthy, punctual and reliable.

Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to, preparation and finalizing various types of correspondence. Draft pleadings, discovery, motions, briefs and memorandums. Calendaring of deadlines. Excellent proofreading, punctuation, grammar and redlining work for accuracy, format, etc. is integral. Must be knowledgeable with legal filings in state and federal courts and able to successfully meet set deadlines. Responsible for preparation for hearings and assist in trial preparation including organizing exhibits and witness lists. Arrange remote court appearances via Zoom, CourtCall, etc. Maintain electronic files and dockets of cases for attorney. Candidate must have knowledge of bates-stamping, redaction, as well as copying, scanning, and other general office procedures. Strong phone etiquette and follow through skills are required. Other research duties and administrative projects as assigned.

Software Skills: Candidates must have advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel) as well as Adobe Acrobat and Westlaw. Knowledge of TABS software billing program a plus. Candidates must be able to prioritize work to meet deadlines and enter billable time in a manner relevant to client for work performed.
