GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: The CNC Operator/Woodshop position is responsible for running CNC equipment to machine or fabricate a variety of precision components to specifications, following drawings, work instructions, and in-process inspection requirements. Additionally, the position cuts, sands, routes, and finishes wood pieces.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Operation of various CNC equipment such as CNC lathes, milling and drilling machines, etc. to
machine or fabricate components for final assembly.
Mount, align and secure work holding, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials
onto machines.
Load parts and cycle machine to ensure optimal efficiency and conformance.
Measure and inspect part features per drawing to ensure conformance and detect defects using
precision instruments using basic gaging and inspection tools (i.e. Dial Calipers, Gage Pins, Micrometers).
Complete assigned work within given timeframe efficiently and according to specifications and
complete all documentation.
Cooperate with other employees in the department to maintain a safe working environment.
Follow all safety policies and procedures, including required PPE for the respective job being
performed.
Performs other related tasks as assigned.
Interpreting part of drawings and process instructions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Work to tight tolerances
Able to do basic shop math calculations
Follow instruction and direction
Maintain established standards of quality, productivity & attendance
Able to work in a high-volume production environment
Load and unload raw materials and equipment, and setting up and calibrating accessories
Monitor machines while assembling products, and making adjustments as needed
Perform quality checks before running the machines, and inspecting the finished product to
ensure it meets specifications
Report any mechanical issues to your lead, supervisor, or maintenance department
Obtain and document work orders, and keeping detailed records for equipment and procedures
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent
1+ years related experience
Technical school training a plus
Experience in manufacturing/aerospace a plus
KEY COMPETENCIES:
Knowledge of general workshop tools and equipment
Must be able to understand and interpret technical drawings to specifications
OTHER:
Part-time, 30 hours/week - with the potential to move to full-time position
Ability to work flexible hours to support overtime requirements
Able to lift 20 pounds consistently without assistance, 50 pounds occasionally with assistance
Able to stand for long periods of time while operating machinery
This position is in-person and does not require work-from-home tasks
