Composites Technician

The Composites Technician’s primary responsibility is to manufacture hardware to precise requirements using materials such as carbon fiber, Kevlar, and adhesives. Candidate must possess a clever mind to gather and organize the requirements of a task, then exhibit craftsmanship in creating the final product. Often, product is novel and has never been produced. It is imperative that the candidate be able to invent new ways to solve problems. Build savvy is a must.

Responsibilities:

Day to day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Review of requirements for work to be done as well as goals to achieve.

Handling of composites, metallics, and hardware for space or aerospace flight products.

Mixing and application of adhesives.

Laminating.

Light industrial work such as trimming, drilling, and mechanical assembly.

Record keeping, note taking, and collaborative problem solving.

Maintaining fastidious cleanliness of work area and machines during operation.

Notification of supervisor if errors or problems arise.

Adherence to company policy concerning paperwork and work instructions.

Use of drawings and requirements to insure conformance to customer requirements.

Providing input on process decisions and strategies

Completing documentation of the materials and processes used in the process to maintain traceability of product.

Minimum qualifications for this position include:

Team and Customer focused attitude.

Strong work ethic and high school graduated

Strong trouble-shooting skills and the ability to think critically.

US Citizenship or legal permanent resident.

Familiarity with art, craft, or manufacturing tools.

Competent understanding and awareness of basic measurement tools.

Must be able to work independently, but also demonstrate an ability to work productively within a team.
