Position Overview:
The Quality Supervisor will play a key role in ensuring that all products manufactured meet the highest standards of quality. This position requires expertise in quality control procedures, AS9100 standards, and the ability to lead and supervise a team of quality technicians. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the metalworking sector, excellent leadership skills, and understanding of aerospace quality management systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervise Quality Technician Team:
o Lead, train, and manage a team of quality technicians.
o Assign tasks and ensure that quality inspections are carried out effectively and efficiently.
2. Ensure Compliance with AS9100 Standards:
o Monitor the implementation of quality management systems (QMS) in accordance with AS9100.
o Ensure all processes are documented and followed as per certification requirements.
o Assist in internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with aerospace industry standards.
3. Quality Assurance and Improvement:
o Identify areas for quality improvements and drive initiatives to enhance product quality.
o Ensure non-conformances are reported, analyzed, and corrective actions are taken.
o Assist in root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for recurring quality issues.
o Participate in corrective action investigations to ensure timely and effective solutions are implemented.
4. MRB (Material Review Board) Meetings:
o Conduct MRB meetings to review and address non-conforming materials.
o Coordinate with relevant teams to evaluate and determine the disposition of non-conforming materials.
o Ensure proper documentation and follow-up actions for non-conforming materials to maintain quality standards.
5. Inspection and Testing:
o Oversee the inspection of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products.
o Review product specifications, engineering drawings, and manufacturing instructions to ensure compliance.
o Verify the calibration of inspection tools and equipment.
6. Reporting and Documentation:
o Maintain accurate and up-to-date quality records, including inspection results and reports.
o Prepare and present reports on quality performance, including metrics, trends, and any issues related to quality.
o Ensure that product certifications and documentation are completed in accordance with industry standards.
7. Collaboration with Other Departments:
o Work closely with production, engineering, and purchasing teams to address quality issues.
o Participate in new product introduction reviews and provide feedback on manufacturability and quality considerations.
Qualifications:
Education:
o Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience of 3 – 5 years in lieu of education.
o Certification in quality management systems (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001) are a plus.
Experience:
o Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality control or assurance, preferably in the metalworking or aerospace manufacturing industry or manufacturing industry.
o Experience in managing or supervising a team is highly desirable.
o Familiarity with industry-specific standards such as AS9100 and ISO 9001.
Technical Skills:
o Proficient in quality control tools and techniques (e.g., SPC, root cause analysis, FMEA, PPAP).
o Strong knowledge of inspection and testing procedures for metal parts.
o Proficient in the use of metrology equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and CMM.
Languages:
o English proficiency (written and spoken) is required.
o Spanish proficiency is desirable but not mandatory.
Soft Skills:
o Strong leadership and team management abilities.
o Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
o Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
o Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Working Condition:
o Occasional overtime may be required.
o Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to various mechanical systems and equipment.
