The controller position is accountable for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the companys reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field

10+ years experience in public and/or private accounting, including 7+ years experience in progressively responsible management positions.

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents.

Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive issues.

Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches and articles using distinctive style.

Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups.

Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees, top management, and client groups to take desired action.

Highly developed written, oral, and presentation skills.

Proven ability to effectively interact with external clients, senior management, employees, regulators and external auditors.

Demonstrated experience & knowledge of financial issues & economic impact beyond technical knowledge.

Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles.

Ability to analyze the most complex business/financial data and develop innovative solutions.

Ability to forecast and prepare budgets.

Conducts financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports.

Advanced understanding of accounting and bookkeeping concepts.

Ability to solve advanced problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations.

Draws upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact on the company.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Responsibilities include:

Management

Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.

Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the departments goals and objectives.

Developing financial strategy, including risk minimization plans and opportunity forecasting.

Maintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.

Transactions

Maintain the chart of accounts.

Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.

Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.

Reporting

Issue timely and complete financial statements.

Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report.

Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.

Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics.

Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts.

Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.

Provide for a system of management cost reports.

Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.

High-level financial reporting and analysis.

Work closely with management and executive teams to share reports and analysis findings.

Compliance

Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
