Looking for a server for FUN, fast paced, unique bar/restaurant in downtown Palm Springs. What is so fun about us you may ask? We are an old school Tiki bar with a 65 year history in southern California as our North Hollywood location has been open since 1958. We serve umbrella drink cocktails and some of our delightful concoctions are served in pineapples and coconuts. Doesn't that sound like fun? Our atmosphere makes you feel like you've been transported to a tropical island in the Pacific but our hidden gem is a secret room you access via a phone booth entrance. This secret room (aka The Tonga Room), enchants and delights our patrons who love reserving the area for small group gatherings. However, the BEST part of our establishment is the loyal, fun-loving patrons who really do remember your name and treat you like a good friend and family member.

Have no sense of humor or can't handle skillful sarcasm. Have no alarm clock, oversleep, have a cell phone battery that dies constantly preventing you from contacting us, have to give friends rides to work later than we start work, call in sick or with an excuse because you partied too hard the night before your shift, experience flat tires EVERY week, and suddenly become deathly ill on Coachella and Splash House weekends. You will not last if you want to score social points with the cute patron by giving away food and beverages on our dime, with our inventory. Do not apply if you'll need nights off because your grandma poisoned you with her ham (again) or your band has a gig or you need weekends off because your favorite roller derby team made it to the finals, its ski season, you "accidentally" got on a plane to Vegas, you haven't surfed in a while, you have a headache after going to too many garage sales, you woke up in a good mood and didn't want to ruin it, you've been at the casino all night but still have money to play with, you ordered a take-out that is late and you have to be home to accept/pay for it, you've locked yourself in the house by mistake and there are no windows to crawl out of or you want to work a few weeks before you go on your "Tropical" vacation.
We are a team-oriented environment, so you need to work well as part of a team. Please steer clear if you lean into drama like tendencies as our team is not willing to join your circus and manage your flying monkeys. Last but not least, big egos, grumpy introverts, reactive and bad attitudes and individuals unable to accept the fact that you get PAID to WORK - need NOT apply.
Composure under pressure in a fast paced environment is essential. We would prefer you are familiar with restaurant POS systems and experienced in the restaurant industry. However, if you have the right mindset, we are willing to teach the right candidate. Good social skills and the ability to engage patrons warmly and with respect would be ideal. A bonus skill will be understanding the concept of "proactive" versus "reactive" or at least the willingness to learn and apply such a trait. Being closer to sane than not under pressure would be appreciated by your coworkers and management. You need to be willing to rotate late night shifts with coworkers since we close between midnight and 2am. It's also important you have reliable transportation since your shift may end around 1 or 2 am and the last local bus at a nearby bus stop is at 9:40pm. Thus, for YOUR safety, you need to have reliable transportation home.
