The Grant Writer (Independent Contractor) will be responsible for identifying, researching, and securing grant opportunities to support the company's operational, educational, and expansion goals. The Solar Initiative, a non-profit company dedicated to educating the public about solar energy for the home. This role requires strong research skills, persuasive writing abilities, attention to detail, and a passion for solar energy. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully obtaining funding for non-profit organizations.
Responsibilities will include:
- Research and identify potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies that align with company's missions and programs.
- Prepare, write, and submit compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and funding applications.
- Collaborate with the Executive Team to gather information and create impactful proposals.
- Analyze grant results to refine future application strategies.
- Ensure all proposals comply with funder guidelines, organizational policies, and all laws.
- Write and submit LOI's in time for founder to read and renew.
- Utilize company's resources, staff leadership and historical documents to gather materials and information to write strong grant proposals.
- Have knowledge of local, state, and federal grant opportunities.
- Write grant acknowledgements, specifically thank you and follow-up letters.
