SUMMARY of POSITION

FIND Food Bank is the Feeding America regional food bank serving Eastern Riverside and South San Bernardino Counties. Our service area includes 21 cities and unincorporated areas including the Greater Coachella Valley, Anza, High Desert and the Salton Sea. We are dedicated to relieving hunger, the causes of hunger, and the problems associated with hunger through awareness, education, and mobilization of resources and community involvement. The Grants Manager will be responsible for successfully managing FIND's grant system and meeting grant fundraising goals. This includes identifying, collecting, verifying, and reporting on grant deliverables and data; tracking all documents and program information required by funders; identifying, managing and submitting Letters of Interest (LOIs); writing and tracking grant proposals and reports; researching new grant funding opportunities. The Grants Manager will work collaboratively with the Executive Team, Development Staff, and Community Impact Staff to coordinate cultivation and solicitation efforts with government, foundation and corporate donors, and to ensure excellent relations and customer service with existing funders and donors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborate with FIND directors, managers and staff to develop and write funding proposals, proposal budgets, written support materials for fundraising, compliance reports, and updates to funders regarding program outcomes and use of funds. Specific duties and responsibilities include:

• Write funding requests and grant proposals to government funding sources, foundations, businesses and individual donors and prepare all application documents in grant package for submission

• Conduct and track ongoing prospect research of private and public funding sources

• Track status of funding applications, including maintaining ongoing calendar of proposal and grant report deadlines, grant deliverables, and provide information to the Executive Team and necessary staff on requirements and deliverables and their status

• Attend FIND activities and keep up to date regarding program work and outcomes throughout to inform proposal content; communicate regularly with staff about funded projects, and participate in program discussion with other staff to develop ideas and strategies for developing new prospects and programs or activities

• Work with Community Impact staff to develop, articulate and support implementation of grant contracts/MOU's for FIND services

• Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of grant contracts and maintain donor files

• Maintain grants database and files with responsibility for managing and updating donor and grant records, tracking deadlines, communications, awards, contact information, follow-up tasks and reporting requirements

• Responsible for all report generation for grants analysis, strategy and decision-making.

• Prepare LOIs, grant proposals, grant reports and acknowledgements to current and potential funders, including developing clear, concise and compelling content, copy-editing and reformatting of text

• Ensure overall quality and accuracy of all grants proposals submitted

• Coordinate the completion and submission of required reports

• Manage relationships with funders including coordination of correspondence with funders, and handle routine clarifying calls regarding submission dates, guidelines.

• Develop professional positive working relationships with contractors, funders, donors and government agencies

• Work with Community Impact, Operations and Finance teams to review, prepare and submit accurate program budgets and invoicing

• Support online fundraising campaigns and event fundraisers

• Coordinate with Community Impact and Finance staff to compile written grant reports with financial reports and other required documentation

• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in English, Communications or related field; history of continuing professional development in the field of grant writing, or equivalent life experience

• Ability to convey the written case for funding for FIND and its strategic priorities, service approach, current and planned programs, and outcomes to funding sources in a clear, compelling, and persuasive manner

• Minimum of 1 year of experience and success in proposal writing, including funded proposals

• Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills; ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team

• Superior professional level writing, editing and verbal communication skills

• Ability to analyze community research reports, external community data, and internal program data for use in proposal writing

• Ability to meet the funder guidelines and meet multiple proposal deadlines

• Ability to achieve Development Department productivity goal for proposal production and help meet annual departmental fundraising goal

• Efficient internet use, experience with donor research, and knowledge of resources for prospect research and proposal writing

• Experience with writing support documents used in fundraising

• Strong attention to detail, excellent organization and time management, and ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects simultaneously

• Must be comfortable and productive writing in an office where there is standard office background noise

• Familiarity with electronic donor management system and Microsoft Office applications.

• Meet FIND's employment requirements including: ability to pass criminal clearance background check and possess a valid driver's license
