  • Mandatory Staff Qualifications Proposed Experience

    1. Must have three (3) years of experience working within the AWS, Azure or Oracle cloud in a DevOps role supporting the design, build, and operation of highly consistent, secure and scalable cloud infrastructure.
    2. Must have three (3) years of experience in design and implementation of automation CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code working, with tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, GitHub, GitLab, Artifactory, Splunk and Terraform.
    3. Must have two (2) years of experience working with container technologies like Docker, Kubernetes. Desirable Staff Qualifications Proposed Experience
    4. Should have experience working in a Higher Education environment.


  • Should have two (2) years of experience working on projects involving IT Service Management process improvement utilizing ITIL practices.


    Key Tasks and Responsibilities the Contractor DevOps Engineer shall have:
    Develop infrastructure and deployment systems based on services team's need for delivering solutions in a timely manner.
    Develop and manage application build and deployment pipelines, meeting a variety of application deployment patterns.
    Use strategies like infrastructure-as-code, continuous integration/delivery and containerized development to ensure our environments are auditable and easy to replicate.
    Develop automation and processes to enable teams to deploy, manage, configure, scale and monitor their applications.
    Create automation with third party tools like Terraform, Helm, CI/CD tooling and bespoke scripting where appropriate.
    Manage multi-site network and load balancing configurations. Build and/or configure monitoring tools and dashboards to actively gather performance metrics for tuning and identification of issues.
    Create and manage alerts detecting service anomalies; work with the team to troubleshoot and resolve defects and performance issues.
    Create and maintain performance/availability monitors, and alerts, report systems health as they relate to a given services team. Ensure the platform operates within our security and privacy guidelines. Actively participating in solutions, processes, and technology discussions as they apply to infrastructure.
    Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for performing maintenance tasks, applying configuration changes, and remediating problems in our environment.
    Provide knowledge transfer (KT) to Enterprise Services staff to build skill to be able to maintain cloud infrastructure and automation pipelines. KT methods include, but not limited to: Virtual or in-person learning sessions, on-the-job-training (OJT), job shadowing. And creation of job aids and training materials
    Solve complex business problems by providing technical advice and project solution alternatives.
    Work with stakeholders to improvement/re-engineering of business processes to align with technology needs.
    Support the elicitation of requirements/use cases/user stories with subject matter experts and manage through the requirements lifecycle.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    The DevOps Engineer must possess the following skills and abilities in order to perform the essential functions of the position:

    Experience managing multi-site, highly-available applications or services.
    Proficient in one or more of the following scripting languages (Bash, Python, Perl and PowerShell).
    Solid understanding of Cloud architectures and best practices including security.
    Familiarity with logging/application monitoring tools (AppDynamics, Splunk etc.).
    Knowledge of Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).
    Experience with containerized application migrations across datacenters or deployment platforms.
    Experience with source code control platforms such as TFS and/or Git, JIRA and related Atlassian stack (Confluence, BitBucket, Bamboo).
    Experience with CI/CD automation technologies and tools.
    Flexibility to operate in an environment with changing demands and priorities.
    Demonstrated ability to quickly and accurately troubleshoot system issues.
    Knowledge and experience of all phases of the IT system development lifecycle and the application of waterfall, agile, and hybrid methodologies.
    Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    Ability to utilize diplomacy, tact, and professionalism when working with peers and stakeholders. Ability to evaluate situations from multiple perspectives (customers, stakeholders, vendors, best practices) in order to manage projects effectively.
    Ability to exercise good judgment and make timely and effective decisions.
    Ability to consistently exercise a high degree of initiative, independence, and originality in performing assigned tasks.
    Ability to multi-task and manage several complex projects concurrently with rapid response times.
    Ability to constantly re-prioritize work based on severity of issues and impact of solution.
    Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in performing tasks.
    Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite (including Outlook, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Visio) and Teams
