Accounting Supervisor
Ted Pella, Inc. is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to join our Accounting team. This person will oversee all staff and functions related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing. This role involves managing daily operations, ensuring compliance with financial policies, and fostering a high-performance team environment. The supervisor will also support the Accounting Manager with data analysis and reconciliation of trial balances and bank statements, contributing to accurate financial reporting and effective decision-making. This position reports to the Accounting Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Billing and Front Office accounting staff, including interviewing, selecting, training, scheduling, coaching, counseling, evaluating, and disciplining staff as needed. Work with Accounting Manager, VP of Finance, and Human Resources when appropriate.
Responsible for performing Accounts Receivable, Account Payable, and Billing functions as needed for back up or when workload demands.
Responsible for on-the-job training of new employees on Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Billing functions, and other related tasks in the front office.
Prepare daily information/reports for the VP of Finance and/or Accounting Manager as directed.
Prepare monthly activity reports for the VP of Finance and/or Accounting Manager.
Complete monthly bank reconciliations.
Complete monthly account reconciliations.
Review trial balance monthly as needed for financial statements.
Perform end of the month entries for accountant, including amortization, depreciation, taxes, assets, etc.
Perform End of Month closing tasks.
Review payroll and sales tax returns for accuracy.
Manage sales tax exemptions.
Manage customer account applications and new account creation.
Work with Customer Service and International departments on daily issues.
Assist with monitoring past due accounts and collections as necessary.
Track commissions for dealers and sales people.
Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Report to the Accounting Manager on performance, progress, and training needs of employees, and on behavior problems.
Assist Accounting Representatives with complex matters. Follow issues to completion.
Stay current on product and policy changes. Answer questions of other employees on procedures, policies, directives, etc., and obtain needed information or decisions from Accounting Manager on problems that occur.
Complete additional duties and/or tasks as assigned by management.
Job Requirements:
An AA degree in Accounting is required. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.
7 years of experience in all aspects of Accounting is required.
2 years of supervisory or leadership experience is required. Supervisory experience should include interviewing, selection, and onboarding; writing and conducting performance reviews; setting
performance goals; employee training; employee motivation; coaching, counseling, and disciplinary processes; hiring and termination experience.
Manufacturing and inventory related accounting is strongly desired.
Demonstrate the ability to do multiple bank and credit card reconciliations.
Solid experience with accounting/billing software including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Invoicing is required. Experience with an ERP system is preferred.
Strong typing and 10 key skills.
Familiarity with payroll is strongly desired.
Experience with foreign currency transactions and international commerce is desired.
Excellent customer interaction skills, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, on the phone and in writing.
Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume environment and must be able to learn new things quickly.
Must demonstrate high competency in computer skills; including Microsoft Windows, Excel and Word.
The ability to be both self-motivated as well as work well in a team.
A high sense of organization and attention to detail, and a high level of accuracy in work product.
Exceptional ability to keep confidentiality of private and highly sensitive information.
Regular and prompt attendance is required, and maintaining a consistent, strong, and accurate work effort throughout the day.
Must be able to stay late for end of month closing and annual inventory.
Maintain positive attitude at all times.
Hours: Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a requirement to be available after hours for month end closing and annual inventory. Evening and weekend shifts may be required on occasion when business demands, and pre-approved by manager.
Pay/Benefits: Annual salary range is $61,550 - $80,000 plus an excellent benefit package. Pay rate is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include a generous medical, dental, vision and life/AD&D insurance plan, a 401(k) plan with Company match, paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
