About the Position:

A Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) is a professional who ensures that welding, testing, and fabrication meet safety and quality standards. They use their knowledge of welding processes, materials, and standards to analyze welds and make sure they are safe and correct.

CWIs are highly sought after in the welding industry and are responsible for a variety of tasks, including: Qualifying welders and welding procedures, overseeing non-destructive testing, advising on code requirements and customer specifications, examining materials, and reviewing weld symbols.

Job Description/ Responsibilities:

Daily monitoring, inspection and reporting of all welding and fabrication.

Track, monitor, and observe the completion and repairs of all welds.

Review drawings and specifications for any pressure testing and/ or quality control deliverables.

Verify that all the materials conform to requirements and the correct filler metals are used.

Ensure welding is performed in accordance with applicable Code, Specification and Welding Procedure Specification (WPS).

Ensure that all work meets requirements specified in the code, drawing and/or specifications.

Perform visual inspection on all welding and fabricating performed.

Test and qualify all welders, maintain all documentation of test results and welder continuity records.

Ensure that filler metals are maintained in proper condition, per requirements.

Assist in ordering and issuing all welding materials.

Prepare and maintain clean and concise reports of welded repairs.

Ensure that the work inspected is identified with specified marking methods or with appropriate records.

Perform receiving inspection of new material, to ensure receipt of correct material per specifications, drawings and repair/fabrication requirements.

Review and accept Nondestructive Examination reports.

Use interpersonal skills to effectively communicate requirements and objectives to foreman, welders and field employees.

Work at a pace sufficient to obtain quality and quantity of inspection/testing consistent with operational requirements.

Ensure all records are up-to-date and readily available for audits and reviews.

Qualifications:

Must have and maintain a valid Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) certificate.

Must have at least two years of experience, preferably in piping industry.

Must be able to utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel).

Must have a valid driver’s license.

Must have a High School diploma or GED.

Must be able to work in all weather conditions.

Must be able to read construction prints and drawings.

Must be available to work on job sites out of town.

Shift:

This is a 4 day/10 hour shift week Monday - Thursday. Overtime will be paid if worked for Friday - Sunday. The jobsite location is primarily in Clearlake/Middletown, CA with some time spent at their headquarters in Anderson, CA

$31.00-$35.00 per hour depending on experience plus per diem and travel expenses depending on where you live
