Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal or Senior Principal Engineer, Environmental Control System Architect to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our South Bay Vehicle Engineering organization. This position is located in Redondo Beach, CA.Candidate may be involved in multiple aspects in the development of aircraft subsystems, such as analysis, verifying requirements, test data post processing, and working shipside to help troubleshoot issues. The candidate is expected to apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts. These aircraft subsystems include, but are not limited to, Environmental Control Systems, Liquid Cooling Systems, Fuel Systems, Hydraulic Systems, Electrical Power System, Secondary Power Systems, and Fire Protection.Key Responsibilities:

Capable of working as part of a large multi-disciplined team of subsystems design/architecture engineers.

Performing system related analysis in support of the development of aircraft subsystems as well as the integration of aircraft avionics and the installation of various aircraft hardware. Analysis includes, but not limited to, subsystem performance modeling, liquid cooling systems, air cycle systems, fluid distribution systems, and compartment temperature assessments as influenced by structural heat transfer and compartment heat sources.   

Re sponsible engineer activities, which include all aspects of system/component design and development including trade studies, layouts, architecture definition, system test & verification, and troubleshooting. These activities may also include participating on a subcontractor management team and will act as the technical point of contact with suppliers for hardware development, qualification, and procurement.

System level test planning, execution support, verification, data processing, and troubleshooting.

System level evaluations to verify requirements and ensure airworthiness criteria are met.

Attend internal program, customer and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.

This position may be filled at a level 3 or 4.Basic Qualifications:

Principal: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of STEM related engineering experience, or a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of experience or STEM PhD with 0 years of experience.

Senior Principal: Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 9+ years of experience; 7+ years with Master's Degree or 5 with a PhD.

Must have an active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation). Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

A current active in-scope U.S. Government issued DoD Secret security clearance or higher is required to start, with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SPA).

Salary Range: $107,300 - $160,900The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
