Job Title: Firmware Engineer
Location: Remote with occasional lab visits
Length of Assignment: 6-12 months
Start Date: 01/25/21
Job Description: The firmware engineer will play a key role and own the design and development of the software for the Monarch Platform's embedded devices and subsystems. He/she will work closely with the other MEDS team engineers as well as engineers from other groups to implement architecture decisions, lead and influence device software solutions based on clinical and user requirements.
Required Experience:
• Proficiency in C/C programming of microcontrollers and embedded processors (32/64 bit ARM, Cortex-M or equivalent),
• Strong background and experience (7+years) in building robust firmware applications interfacing hardware modules and software solutions.
• Experience Managing Projects and Tasks in JIRA & Confluence,
• Proficiency in building test automation setups in Python.
• Experience defining SW to FW and FW to HW communication interfaces over serial and field-bus protocols.
• Experience with J-Link, J-Tag, and GIT.
Nice to have experience, but not required:
• Experience developing software under Linux
• Experience with Firmware application build process automation.
• Experience with Firmware Upload and Boot-loading. Experience with Embedded RTI DDS (Pub-Sub Communication Architecture)
• Experience in TCP/IP based network programming (knowledge of DDS standard a plus).
• Expertise with Real Time OS, specifically QNX.
• Experience with prototyping rapid test fixture using Python, PyQT.
• Experience with serial and parallel communication protocols such as i2c, ModBus, CanBus, Ethercat, USB and PCIe; RS485, RS232.
• Experience with Linux application development and debugging
