The ideal candidate would have experience in project management, including specific experience on environmental projects. This could include recycling facility or disposal site management, active or post closure landfill management, remediation projects, site closures, facility monitoring and reporting. The ideal candidate could also have experience selecting and working with consultants and engineers on environmental assessments and responding to regulatory requirements.
Experience working with federal, state, or other local agencies is also desirable. Experience working with, developing, or managing waste management and recycling programs is desirable. This could include working with landmark State legislation such as California Assembly Bill 939 (1990), and more recently Assembly Bill 1826 (2014) and Senate Bill1383 (2016). Candidate should have strong written, analytical and organizational skills; and able to create procedures that ensure regulatory compliance.
Under general direction, the Integrated Waste Planning Superintendent plans, coordinates, supervises, and reviews the technical support programs for the City's Recycling and Solid Waste Division; ensures appropriate actions are taken with respect to changing regulations related to solid waste collection, recycling, and compliance with relevant assembly bills and landfill issues; and provides professional and technical staff assistance to the Integrated Waste General Manager.
