Land Surveyor-In-Training (LSIT)-Project Surveyor
Medium sized survey and mapping firm with offices in NORCAL, SOCAL, Phoenix, and Boise seeks motivated individual with LSIT certification to coordinate NORCAL (Orangevale) and SOCAL (Ontario) office as a potential principal level surveyor. Primary principal/Owner seeks to continue focus on new staff and company growth, but will maintain training and oversight at all times. LSIT will receive support in maintaining office, hiring practices, reviewing/signing documents, training needed to achieve principal level status. Current corporate clientele includes very large nationwide companies of the Fortune 500.
Candidates must be capable of self-starting, working with minimal supervision (excepting PLS oversite). Training will include marketing strategies, HR fundamentals, administrative procedures, and survey practices in detail.
Interested candidates will be knowledgeable/Exposed to Autodesk 2025 Civil 3D software, have some experience in Trimble TBC, Trimble S7/S5 Robotic Total Stations, Trimble R12i GPS Receivers, and miscellaneous survey related software.
Candidate should be capable of getting FAA certification as a drone operator if desired (Company Expense). Most survey projects entail drone flights for aerial photos and site checks.
Duties will include project controls, direction of CADD staff, occasional field work (at discretion of candidate), review of work leaving the office, maintain office environment.
This position is a lead to ownership and/or stock ownership, or possibly training to build your own firm later. The primary principal/owner has 40 years’ experience building survey and photogrammetric firms, seeks to focus on growth and strategic exit plan in years to come.
