I am a licensed SE with a solo structural engineering practice in Davis focused on wood single family residential structures: remodels, additions, and new houses.
I am looking for someone with a PE license who can draft and engineer as a 1099 independent contractor. I am not interested in hiring employees. I am seeking consulting help with engineering and drafting in AutoCAD. Health insurance is not included. You would work remotely except for in person meetings every 1-2 weeks. You should be willing to perform site visits from Sacramento to Napa and crawl under houses and into attics, though most of the work is done at a computer. You need to offer at least 16 hours of work per week. 24 would be best. Your work hours can be flexible within the work week as long as the total number is there.
Candidates should be highly reliable and able with statics, wood design (CBC, NDS), and AutoCAD. I can provide CAD access. This work would be project by project for a fixed fee on each. If you are not strong with CAD, I can train you on that. You have to already be strong with engineering. Reliability, strong communication skills, time management, and the ability to follow instructions are essential. But ideally, we will reach a place where I give you a project, and you do the work, followed by my review, and you finish, and I pay you.
If you do not live near Davis or Sacramento, do not apply. If you do not have a PE in Civil Engineering, do not apply. If you do not have experience engineering and detailing wood residences, do not apply. Don't know a stud from a girder, a sill plate from a top plate, a rafter from a truss? Don't apply. Still here?
