SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the site administrator or designee, and Nutrition Services Manager, and the general direction of the school chef prepare a wide variety of hot and cold dishes in large quantities; prepare and serve school meal items; set up salad bar, preform clean up at any nutrition services station on a school campus; and, related work as required.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
● Prepare a wide variety of hot and cold dishes, and snacks
● Exercise judgment based on past experience in determining appropriate quantities of each
● Suggest new recipes or variations of old ones
● Ensure that assigned food items are ready in the proper quantity at service time
● Ensure serving areas are kept stocked
● Assist in other aspects of the nutrition services operation including developing menus, inventory, receipt and storage
of supplies, food and equipment
● Set up of food and salad bar, beverages and/or utensils
● Serving
● Cleaning nutrition services equipment, work area and utensils
● Operating food services equipment
● Recordkeeping and other duties if necessary
