Essential Duties:

The essential duties noted below are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, functions, and skills. They are intended to be a summary of key job responsibilities and duties.

1. Observe, check, and measure items placed in the construction for compliance to the contract documents, technical instructions from the design professional and directives from the project manager when necessary. Issue written correction notices as required.

2. Communicate instructions from the project manager, construction administrator, and design professional to the contractor, and relay contractor issues to the design professional. Help the contractor obtain decisions and clarifications from the design professional.

3. Supervise and/or conduct on-site testing, ensuring all required tests are performed as specified in the contract. Report any failed tests to the project manager and design professional and follow their instructions for further action.

4. Assist the project manager in reviewing testing laboratory billings to confirm they reflect only tests performed.

5. Inform the project manager and design professional about circumstances surrounding requested changes in the work.

6. Prevent the installation of related work until shop drawings have received final approval from the design professional.

7. Record verbal instructions from the design professional or their consultants during field visits in the daily log or field instruction sheet.

8. Review the progress schedule monthly, alerting the design professional and construction administrator to any delays in the contractor’s performance.

9. Maintain a set of working drawings to track inspected and approved contract work. The Inspector of Record should indicate inspections as needed, and the design professional should review the drawings for structural framing inspections.

10. Monitor and update the contractor's marked-up record drawings weekly, reporting non-compliance at project meetings.

11. Inspect materials immediately upon delivery to ensure compliance with specifications and good condition. Mark and remove any damaged or non-compliant materials.

12. Coordinate with the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) and the contractor for required OSFM inspections and perform/observe any necessary pre-inspections.

Desired Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years of experience as an inspector on construction projects, with a focus on DSA or OSHPD-regulated projects, such as school or healthcare facilities.

Proven experience in field inspections for compliance with building codes, construction drawings, and contract specifications.

Strong written and verbal communication skills for accurate documentation and effective communication between contractors, project managers, design professionals, and regulatory agencies.

Certification Requirements:

OSHPD (Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development) Class A or B OR DSA (Division of the State Architect) Class I or II

Compensation:

BPR Consulting Group offers competitive wages and has a strong benefit offerings.

$55 - $70 an hour
