Plan of Care (POC) Supported Living Services is looking for compassionate and dedicated Direct Care Support (DCS) staff who will provide in-home caregiving services to adult clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
These clients are cared for in the comfort of their own homes in Northern California - specifically El Dorado, Sacramento, Placer, and Yolo County vicinities. Flexible work shifts available.
Monday - Friday:
- Mornings: 6a - 2p
- Evenings: 2p - 10p
- Nights: 10p - 6a
Weekend Shifts:
- Friday nights, 10p - Sunday nights, 10p (48 hours)
Also Available:
- Friday nights, 10p - Saturday nights, 10p (24 hours)
- Saturday nights, 10p - Sunday nights, 10p (24 hours)
Job Description of a Direct Care Support (DCS) Staff:
- Work with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD)
- Provide transportation to clients to/from program and during program hours, as assigned, and within the client’s community
- Develop and follow schedules and document metrics of service delivery
- Assist clients with their self-help needs, including support in the areas of eating, toileting support, personal hygiene, using universal standard precautions, and all applicable best practices
- Intervene and de-escalate behavioral situations as necessary, using non-violent crisis intervention methods, all while prioritizing the safety of clients and fellow staff
- Provide consistent, high-quality reporting and communication regarding client's support needs
- Maintain integrity and confidentiality when accessing client files, records and POC proprietary information
- Maintain the health, safety, and well-being of clients at all times
- Be a critical thinker, be able to take initiative, multi-task, and autonomy even under pressure
- Be empathetic, patient, and compassionate
- Have strong interpersonal, verbal, listening, and written communication
- Be willing to take direction and constructive feedback positively
- Attend Alta California Regional Center (ACRC) and POC-mandated continuing education certifications and trainings
- Solid time management
- Exercise good judgment and know when it is appropriate to apply basic First Aid and/or call 9-1-1
- Be a team player who is flexible and adaptable to last-minute change/s, where needed
- Partake in in-person and virtual program services and activities
- Use a mobile phone, email, Microsoft products (i.e., Word, excel, etc.), Zoom and Microsoft Teams, and electronic database systems)
Employment Requirements:
- Prior experience in working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) is preferred, but will train if no prior experience.
- Verified legal eligibility to work in the USA.
- Valid and active driver's license.
- Have a safe, working vehicle with verified, valid registration and auto insurance coverage.
- Verified criminal and background record clearance by the US Department of Justice (DOJ).
- Verified clean driving record by the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
- Proof of negative TB test/Chest X-Ray. Must be taken within 12 months of hire.
- Copy of your physical screening by a physician/clinician, also valid if done within 12 months of hire.
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certified.
- Be at least 18years of age.
- Proficiency in the English language.
