I’m a middle aged disabled woman. I live with my retired husband in Davis. My health was improving over the last 10+ years, but declined 2 years ago after being too active.
Looking for a caretaker who lives in Davis or surrounding areas like Woodland, Dixon, Vacaville, Winters, West Sacramento, or Natomas. DO NOT respond if you don't live in these areas.
Someone with a nurturing, mellow personality who is responsible would be perfect. I need quiet, so not a chatty person.
PAY: $25 per hour
Mileage is reimbursed $.70/mile if you run an errand outside of Davis
Hours:
9 AM - 5 PM Monday – Friday with 1 hr unpaid lunch break
Except for one morning or afternoon a week (we can discuss which one)
JOB DESCRIPTION
Looking for someone to help with all the basics of caregiving:
- food shopping and running errands
- cooking and serving meals
- occasional bathing from bed
- some housekeeping: wash dishes, vacuum my room, etc. (We have a housekeeper who cleans the rest of the house)
- gentle massages and hand holding
- Anything else I need assistance with
MOSTLY this job will be just sitting (or laying if you want) in the same room with me, in a reclining chair or next to me on the bed.
You’ll be making sure that I’m not too active.
Also, my physical vulnerability led to a recent fear of being alone, so your presence will help with that as well.
Due to dysautonomia, I need the room quiet and fairly dark.
There are still many activities you can do when you’re in the same room. You can use my laptop and headphones. Read kindle or books online. Watch videos with headphones, listen to music or podcasts or audiobooks with headphones, crochet with lightened needles, etc.
You can do whatever you would like, as long as it is QUIET and can be done in a dim room. A mellow person would be a good fit.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Car and California drivers license
2. Must have previous caregiver experience. A hospice worker or nurse who wants a more relaxed job could also be a good fit.
3. MUST be dependable. It’s totally fine to need time off for vacations or a doctor appointment - just let me know ahead of time. And I understand that sometimes people get sick.
But last minute emergencies should not happen regularly for this job.
4. I am immunocompromised. So if you are regularly sick, especially with Covid, this isn’t the right job.
5. One professional caregiver reference (or similar job)
6. Able to work in the US and no criminal history - we will run a background check
7. This isn’t a requirement, but if you have some computer skills that is a bonus. I need help with things like keeping a daily medical log on my laptop. But if this is something you can’t do, that’s fine because my husband can do it for me.
Please write back and tell us why you would be the right employee for this job, along with a resume if you have one. Make sure to leave your phone number so we can call you.
Thank you!
