MAN is recruiting for: Crisis Intervention Specialist

Position Description: Mutual Assistance Network (MAN) is hiring a Crisis Intervention Specialist for the Birth & Beyond Family Resource Center program at its location in the Del Paso Heights neighborhood. Candidates who are Spanish speaking, Hmong, Dari, or Russian speaking are encouraged to apply. The Birth & Beyond program focuses on supporting families with children. Mutual Assistance Network’s mission is to advance social and economic opportunities so families can thrive. This position will also lean into and support other programs and organizational needs as a Program Manager.

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Family Resource Center Coordinator, the Crisis Intervention Specialist assists families experiencing instability, high levels of stress, and an active need for community resources. The Crisis Intervention Specialist is responsible for intervention and short-term community-based advocacy on behalf of families (including resource and referral services). The Crisis Intervention Specialist also actively participates in Family Resource Center (FRC) activities.

Compensation:

● $20.00 - $21.50 per hour, this position is Exempt and full-time

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

Perform assessments via phone or in-person to determine level of need, appropriate support services, engage in intervention, and refer families to interagency programs or outside community resources as the situation demands.

Case manages a small number of families for short-term access to services with stability as a prime objective.

Work closely with various community partners and program components and establish both formal and informal points of contact with area service providers to ensure a network of support for families.

Ensure families are connected to stabilizing services and provide follow-up support.

Work closely with home visitors to provide follow-up home visits to families and additional resources and referrals, as needed.

Conduct joint home visits with Child Protective Services and outreach to families referred through differential response.

Develop and maintain working relationships with community partners and service providers, including Child Protective Services and other community partners.

Work as a member of a team to provide FRC services to families with children 0-5.

Participate in FRC activities including but not limited to facilitating effective parenting workshops in the absence of other FRC staff, participate in play care and other family events in the FRC, etc.

Attend weekly supervision with members of management team.

Attend and participate in all training, team meetings, and team building activities.

Participate as a member of the FRC Multi-Disciplinary Resource Team (MRT).

Participate in Medi-Cal Administrative Activities (MAA) time survey including daily capture of MAA time and activities, and regular data entry.

Attend community meetings to make and maintain community contacts.

Regularly conduct outreach to families and other community partners.

Complete all required documentation in a timely manner with attention to detail.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

Ability to handle adversity and crisis in an efficient manner and attention to details under stressful situations while maintaining a professional and confidential work environment.

Must be self-motivated, flexible, with ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively and meet deadline

Knowledge of intervention techniques, child abuse issues, family dynamics, substance abuse issues and ability to approach families from strength-based, family-centered service model.

Ability to establish and maintain personal and programmatic boundaries while successfully providing supportive services and comfortable in working with people of diverse backgrounds.

Strong verbal, written and leadership skills.

A bachelor’s degree in social work, human services or a related field is preferred (or the equivalent combination of related work experience and education).

Prior experience in family support services work required.

A good knowledge of Arden Arcade and local community resources

Must possess a valid California Driver’s License, a reliable automobile and proof of auto insurance.

Must pass criminal background clearance from the Department of Justice.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills a plus.

Has awareness regarding race, ability, sexual orientation, gender identity and other cultural identities, with an ability to communicate and collaborate with diverse workgroups and serve families with diverse economic, social, racial, and cultural backgrounds with dignity, humility, and respect.

Willingness to gain cultural understanding necessary to work sensitively and appropriately with a diverse population.

Familiarity with the community and neighborhood where the Family Resource Center is located and surrounding communities and neighborhoods.

Knowledge, understanding, and/or willingness to learn values, beliefs, and practices of cultural groups within diverse communities.

Willingness to actively grow skills relating to cultural responsiveness.

Organizational Support:

Willingness to not only adhere to but ensure the overarching mission and vision of the organization are followed.

Exhibit a level of willingness to grow and develop not only yourself but your team.

Support/Lead other programs/events/tasks as assigned by Directors.

Ensure MAN’s workplace culture and morale are at the forefront of your work.

Other Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Clearance of fingerprint background check.

Must possess a high school diploma or GED.

Must possess a valid California Driver’s license, reliable transportation and auto insurance.

Able to travel between sites and to offsite events.
