OVERVIEW:

The Family Support Trainer provides education and support for families identified at risk for family conflict. The Family Support Trainer will provide evidence-based lessons to families individually and in group settings in the home, school or other community-based locations that best meet the needs of families.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

• Conduct strengths, risks and needs analysis of all members of the family referred to the program.

• Provide baseline assessment and post-assessment of each family as required and review results with each family and enter the data into the data monitoring system

• Provide evidence-based lessons to families commensurate with families' needs, agency policies and curriculum standards.

• Promote appropriate parenting and disciplinary skills with parents. Provide positive role modeling through appropriate verbal redirection of children.

• Utilize community resources to help families meet the goals on their support plan, referring families to appropriate community resources as needed.

• Assist families to engage in appropriate problem solving and coping skills.

• Provide services in-home, in the school and in various community sites; deliver lessons individually and in small groups

• Participate in scheduled supervision to review cases.

• Write and maintain accurate family case files, including but not limited to, correspondence, screenings, check lists, referrals, etc.

• Prepare critical incident and suspected Child Abuse reports as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.

• BA degree from an accredited college or university is required. At least 1 year experience working with children and families in a social services or community-based program is required; Or

• At least 60 units completed from an accredited college and 2 years of experience working with children and families in a social services or community-based program is required.

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) language proficiency is required for this position.

• Previous experience in providing school-based, in-home or group-based instruction is highly desired.

Driving is an essential function of this job, and as such, employees in this position will be required to furnish their own vehicle to be used in the course of employment. A valid driver's license and minimum insurance coverage is also required.
