Overview
Prestwood IT is seeking a hands-on, eager-to-learn Helpdesk Tech to join our growing team. This hybrid role blends client communication, remote support, and both bench and field tech exposure—perfect for someone looking to launch their IT career with real-world experience and a clear path for advancement.
You’ll be part of the daily operations that keep our client systems running smoothly while shadowing experienced technicians and growing into a fully capable tech.
Primary Responsibilities
Scheduler
Be one of the first points of contact for client phone calls and emails (via support@prestwood.com).
Create, assign, and coordinate service tickets in collaboration with management.
Support scheduling and dispatching efforts across the tech team.
Helpdesk Tech
Provide supplemental remote support while covering the phones.
Perform client maintenance tasks in the background, such as updates, patching, and checks using N-Central RMM.
Assist in managing and triaging incoming tickets.
Bench Tech Shadowing
Shadow the diagnosis and repair of systems brought into the office.
Gain hands-on experience with software and hardware troubleshooting.
Gradually take on bench repair and setup tasks within your comfort zone and skill level.
Field Tech Shadowing
Accompany senior techs on field calls to learn procedures, protocols, and client-facing interactions.
Assist with fieldwork and begin handling simple onsite tasks as readiness allows.
Requirements
Passion for IT and willingness to learn
Basic understanding of Windows OS, Microsoft 365, and PC hardware
Strong communication and organization skills
Reliable transportation for shadowing and field visits
Ability to multitask, take direction, and work independently when appropriate
Preferred (but not required)
Familiarity with N-Central or other RMM platforms
Experience with helpdesk, ticketing systems, or technical troubleshooting
Previous IT-related work or school experience
