Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough visual, functional, and emissions inspections on all vehicle types (1996+, 1995 & older).
Accurately input vehicle data and perform tests per BAR guidelines.
Issue certifications for passing vehicles and provide clear reports for failures.
Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times.
Handle customer vehicles with care, respect, and professionalism.
Maintain high standards of accuracy, integrity, and customer service.
Follow all BAR protocols to support STAR program compliance.
Requirements:
Current California Smog Check Inspector License (must be active and in good standing).
Must conform to BAR STAR standards — including high inspection quality, adherence to performance metrics (e.g., Follow-Up Pass Rate ≥ 0.40, no major violations), and ethical practices.
Familiarity with BAR-OIS (OBD systems) and BAR-97 equipment.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures precisely.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Reliable, professional, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a STAR-certified station.
Knowledge of Smog Check Manual and emissions testing procedures.
