Job Title: Adult Special Needs Instructor
Classification: Part Time (10 hours/week)
Reports to: Supervisor
Location: North county San Diego
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
This position is Tuesday and Thursday only from noon-4pm ranging from $25-$27/hour depending on experience. Reliable transportation required.
You will working with 2-3 adults with diverse and intellectual challenges that are high functioning. On these specific days we schedule a variety of activities and tasks depending on the needs of the clients.
- Assists with the coordination of services including planning, monitoring, documenting, and conducting evaluations of services to clients
- Utilizes behavioral and physical techniques to prevent injury to clients and others to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment
- Assists clients with learning new life skills
- Supervise no more than 3 clients at one time
- Responds appropriately to crisis situations
- Observe traffic laws and regulations
- Maintain contact with staff for any schedule changes in advance
- Lock and secure vehicle when leaving unattended; check to ensure no passengers are still in the vehicle before leaving unattended
- Maintain daily record of mileage and number of passengers transported
- Ensures the confidentiality of client information and health records
- Perform additional duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION:
- Knowledge of ABA theory/RDI techniques
- Knowledge of de-escalation skills
- Experience working with adults with diverse and intellectual challenges
SKILL SETS / ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries with clients
- Working knowledge and skills in crisis intervention
- Ability to anticipate and react calmly to situations
- Ability to identify problems, and research and recommend resolutions
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Must be highly organized and demonstrate attention to detail
- Demonstrated experience working with a collaborative team
- Ability to communicate effectively among a diverse workforce population and maintain sound working relations with all levels within the organization
- Work with spirit of enthusiasm, teamwork, and cooperation
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality over all matters in the course of business operations including client and employee information
- Ability to multi-task in an efficient, thorough, and prioritized manner

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
