San Diego Jewish Academy, a college-prep K-12 school, seeks a credentialed special educator or educational therapist to work with K-5 students who require academic, behavioral, and/or executive functioning instruction. Instruction includes primarily pull-out services in 1:1 or small group settings, but could also include push-in support. Responsibilities include administering standardized assessments and curriculum-based assessments, lesson planning, communicating with parents, consultation with teachers and allied professionals, interpreting educational evaluations, conducting observations, attending staffings, developing plans for accommodations, writing individualized learning goals, and working collaboratively in any needed capacity with the administrative team to meet the needs of identified students. Candidates should have a proven track record of being able to work in a fast-paced school environment, to prioritize, to juggle many tasks, to work quickly and efficiently, to be a clear communicator, and to be a comfortable and competent user of technology. Teacher will be required to attend and participate in a variety of in-service trainings and meetings. Familiarity with Orton-Gillingham based programs and serving ELL students is a plus.
