JOB DESCRIPTION
Purpose Statement
The Golden Poppy Preschool & Infant Center Preschool Teacher assumes responsibility for the leadership in the preschool/infant classroom. The preschool teacher is responsible for designing a program that promotes an inclusive early education environment, infant to pre-kindergarten ages. This position requires knowledge of Early Education Measures and State Licensing, Title 22, requirements.

Representative Duties
This position description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the employee assigned to the position. Essential Functions
Cares for infants, preps meals, diapering, maintain sleep logs
Communicate with parents via app throughout the day
Arranges classroom displays
Assists children with hygiene needs and/or diapering
Assists program staff in setting up the learning and development environment and guiding children through learning activities
Assists with food preparation and serving
Attends staff meetings/services as required
Confers with program staff, parents and/or appropriate community agency personnel for the purpose of assisting in observation and documentation of student progress and development
Designs, implements, and coordinates the instructional program
Effectively models appropriate instructional and teaching techniques for the benefit of the paraprofessionals assigned to the program
Employs instructional methods and materials most appropriate for meeting program guidelines
Plans, prepares and assists children in the use of learning and developmentally appropriate materials in all Developmental Domains areas as specified by California Department of Education for infants, toddlers and preschoolers
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all projects, lessons, and communicates these objectives clearly to staff, students and parents
Implements health and safety requirements as established by Community Care Licensing (Title 22)
Interact with students in a variety of settings
Maintains classroom equipment, student logs, and student files
Monitors classroom and playground activities to ensure a safe and positive learning
Participates in meetings
Participates in planning small group and individual activities
Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
Performs light housekeeping and play yard cleanup activities
Performs other duties as assigned
Performs record keeping and clerical functions such as scheduling and photocopying
Promotes the well-being of students by following health and safety practices and procedures
Strives to maintain and improve professional competence
Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge
Child development principles for infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
Basic understanding of Community Care Licensing (Title 22 regulations) operational health and safety requirements in childcare settings.
Ability to
Interact with and care for the physical needs of infants, toddlers, and preschool age children
Make observations of children’s work, behaviors and development and provide feedback for use in assessments and instruction
Perform cleanup activities
Maintain a hygienic preschool environment
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Follow oral and written instructions
Attend meetings and in-service training activities
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children, parents, and program staff
Work effectively independently and as part of a team with minimum supervision
Maintain confidentiality
Organize and prioritize work
Exercise appropriate judgment in making decisions
Demonstrate attendance sufficient to complete the duties of the position as required
Complete routine tasks thoroughly, accurately and with attention to detail
Have knowledge of a variety of computer platforms, including google, google docs, google sheets etc.
Working Environment
Environment:
Duties are typically performed in a classroom setting and in an outdoor play area
May be designated in an alternate classroom setting to maintain ratio per licensing regulations
Physical abilities:
Must be able to hear and speak to exchange information; see to perform assigned duties
Sit or stand for extended periods of time
Possess dexterity of hands and fingers to assist children with a variety of needs
Kneel, bend at the waist, and reach overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, to retrieve and store files; lift light objects
Ability to lift children and equipment up to 50 pounds

Education and Experience
Experience: A typical qualifying background would include experience (paid or volunteer) working in a licensed childcare facility serving children ages birth to five
AND
Education: Completion of high school or equivalent. 12 semester units or equivalent quarter units of post-secondary child development or early childhood education, for infant preschool teacher one class must be the infant class(3 Units)
Required Testing NA
Certificates, Licenses, Credentials
Valid First Aid and CPR (Infant/Child/Adult) certification as issued by an American Red Cross or an American Heart Association-approved program.
Proof of all required vaccinations, including but not limited to: MMR, DTAP, Influenza
Mandated Reporter Training AB1207 (can be completed after hire, and before start date)
Child Development Assistant or Associate Permit - Preferred
with 3 units in infant care
Continuing Education/Training NA

Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
Physical Exam including drug screen
Tuberculosis Clearance
