Hi, My name is Lexi. I have a studio where I teach 20-40 clients a week in vocal coaching, piano, guitar, ukulele, drums, and bass.
Most of my students are beginner/intermediate, and I am looking for someone to join me in teaching them by becoming a regular sub, then, if the students like you, taking over some of my clients yourself to then rent studio space from me at $15-$25/hr or paying a referral fee of 1/2 of the first two lessons and teaching them elsewhere. Age range 5-75 but mostly younger. I will be going to school and recording more, so I need to hand off at least a chunk or take one week off a month to stay on top of things.
I am searching for someone with experience teaching and who at least broadly understands technique on two or more of the above listed instruments/voice. Most of the students are piano and voice. I barely play drums, but have good rhythmic understanding enough to work with beginners, so it's possible for you to sub/take over teaching an instrument you are less skilled at if you have baseline music and a solid technical approach.
I can offer $55/hour for the time actively teaching as a sub (depending on your degree of experience, maybe more?) as W9 gig contracted thing, as well as utilizing the studio if theres off time between lessons. I always work to group lessons close together anyways but if you dont mind not being perfectly back to back, its useful practice time! The studio has all above instruments mentioned plus PA, recording gear, kitchenette, large mirror, books, etc.
I have been raising my rates trying to slow down the flow of people interested here, but I'm realizing I need to onboard another teacher if I want to meet the need of the surrounding community. I also think I prefer to just teach voice, but the handoff is probably going to be more related to personality and style interests anyways.
NOTICE: I am also interested in collaborating with anyone in the area who wants to use Tenam Studio as a space to develop their music/art program. I would love to find someone to refer for group classes or band classes. Theres a lot of little events we've had here that have been cute and successful, but I haven't managed to focus my energy on developing too much in the space beyond private coaching. We just had a circle singing last week, and that was an adult group that was rad. Come schedule an appt to check it out if you're curious.
And if you already have students but you hate driving to their houses, hit me up obv, I rent. The back to back lesson scheduling is more $/time ultimately! :) If you want to be a referral who will use the space too, I can add you to the website.
Tenamstudio.com is the studio site.
