RECON Environmental, Inc. is an employee-owned company of specialists representing one of the largest and most established environmental service firms in the Southwest. Founded in 1972 with the emergence of the National Environmental Policy Act and the California Environmental Quality Act, we have provided nearly four decades of continuous service to our valued clients the federal, public and private sectors.

We are currently looking to add a GIS Analyst to complete projects under the supervision of senior GIS staff. Duties include a high amount of data creation and editing, map production with an understanding of data collection and cartographic techniques. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, good verbal and written communication skills, technical field skills, and strong computer skills.

Key Responsibilities

1. Generate standard and custom products such as maps, diagrams, exhibits, and displays in a well-organized manner using ArcGIS for various environmental review documents.

2. Operate GIS/GPS-related equipment software.

3. Conduct overlay analyses of geographic data sets.

4. Responsible for maintenance of quality assurance for spatial and non-spatial data.

5. Create metadata specific to client requirements.

6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, or 2+ years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in a related field with an emphasis in GIS or completion of a college-level GIS certificate program.

Two years of progressively responsible experience, preferably in an environmental consulting domain.

Must have excellent decision making and critical thinking skills.

Demonstrated expertise using ESRI’s ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro suite of software applications including ArcGIS Online and Field Maps for ArcGIS.

Demonstrated knowledge of cartographic design principles and understanding of map creation procedures.

Ability to identify solutions for a client’s needs.

Ability to compile biological, cultural, and other environmental resources information from a variety of sources and present the information in map, tabular, chart, written, and oral formats.

Ability to interpret technical planning maps, including AutoCAD and MicroStation drawings.

Ability to multitask, work independently, and prioritize to meet deadlines.

Competent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or other graphic design software.

Outstanding communication skills.

$32 - $42 per hour DOE
