Line Cook needed in Osteria Tavi, an Encinitas Italian restaurant. As a line cook at Osteria Tavi, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality dishes according to our recipes and standards. You will work closely with the kitchen team to ensure efficient operations, maintain food safety standards, and contribute to a collaborative and positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation:

Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with our recipes and standards.

Ensure all dishes are prepared in a timely manner and meet quality and presentation standards.

Assist with the preparation of ingredients, including washing, chopping, and marinating.

Station Management:

Set up and stock stations with necessary supplies.

Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout your shift.

Properly store and label all food items to ensure freshness and prevent contamination.

Cooking and Plating:

Follow cooking procedures and recipes precisely to ensure consistency and quality.

Plate dishes attractively and according to presentation guidelines.

Monitor food portions and waste to maintain cost control.

Kitchen Operations:

Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and sanitation practices.

Assist in inventory management, including checking stock levels and ordering supplies as needed.

Participate in kitchen cleaning duties, including end-of-shift cleaning and equipment maintenance.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with the kitchen team and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.

Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks and manage timing.

Assist in training new kitchen staff as needed.

Quality Control:

Ensure all dishes leaving the kitchen meet the restaurant’s quality standards.

Monitor and report any food quality issues to the executive chef or kitchen manager.

Continuously seek to improve cooking techniques and knowledge.

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Line Cook or in a similar role in a high-quality restaurant.

Knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment.

Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Passion for cooking and a commitment to culinary excellence.

Experience with Italia cuisine is a plus.
