Lead ResponsibilitiesReport any equipment failures to Clinic ManagerPresent positive role model and clinic imageResponsible for provider room assignment, exam room stocking and setupComplete monthly log and monitor supplies and expiration dates of equipment and supplies for each room; order and maintain suppliesAssist with coverage for leaves, vacations, sick days, etc.Assist management with oversight of patient flow and back officeEnsure control and temperature logs are done dailyVerify all patient rooms are fully stockedEnsure all Medical Assistants are working efficientlyReport any Medical Assistant training needs to Clinic ManagerAssist with training of new medical assistantsAct as a resource to other medical assistants as neededAssist Clinic Manager with testing, maintaining and updating medical assistant skills Essential Job FunctionsPrint and review schedule daily in preparation for the dayPrepare patients for examination and assist providers with the examination and/or procedureTake vital signs, height and weight of patients; plot growth charts; record immunizationsApply and remove bandages and dressings, orthopedic appliances such as knee immobilizers, envelope slings, orthotics and similar devices and assist providers in cast, splint and orthopedic appliance applications.Select and adjust crutches and provide patient instruction on proper usePerform simple laboratory and screening tests customarily performed in a medical office such as visual acuity, audiometric screening, Snellen tests, spirometry tests and EKG’sSet up appropriate instrument trays for special proceduresVerify the purpose of the visitSet up rooms for provider use in accordance with patient's needs Give counseling, care and follow-up instructions, health education and materials to patients as instructed by providerProvide confidential, culturally sensitive and appropriate language translation for provider and patientAdminister intramuscular, subcutaneous and intra-dermal injections, perform skin tests and venipuncture for purposes of withdrawing blood under the direct supervision of the providerWash, wrap and autoclave instruments according to guidelinesPrepare disposable and infectious waste for appropriate disposalMaintain electronic patient records and charges to ensure completeness and accuracy of informationComplete appropriate electronic forms as required for the patient’s medical treatment, including radiology and laboratory slips and referrals based on provider findingsAssist in minor surgery and other specialty surgical and medical procedures only under the direct supervision of the providerQualificationsMinimumHigh school graduate or equivalent Bilingual English/Spanish Clinical Medical Assistant Certification indicating completion of program from an approved school or hospitalMinimum four years’ back office experienceCPR Certification (BLS Child, Infant, Adult) Phlebotomy certificationRequired Skills/Knowledge/AbilitiesKnowledge of and ability to perform the full range of professional medical assistant dutiesExperience/familiarity with Practice Management and Electronic Medical Records systems, NextGen preferredKnowledge of community health centers, public assistance programs, state and federal regulations and managed care systemsAbility to work independently, take initiative and be proactive Excellent knowledge of general back office procedures, such as taking vitals, performing venipuncture, administering immunizations, etcExcellent organizational, time management and interpersonal skills Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology in English and SpanishEmergency response capability for possible crisis situationsExcellent verbal and written skills necessary for communication with patients/clients, providers and other staffAbility to interface with all levels of personnel in a professional mannerAbility to work with people of all social and ethnic backgrounds and within the constraints of government funded programsPay Range:$23.00 - $27.00 DOEPI254890683 Apply
