Job Description:
Koehler Kraft Company is seeking a motivated & reliable individual to work alongside our skilled team as a Facilities & Boat Maintenance Apprentice. This entry-level position will require you to conduct daily Boatyard Facilities cleaning, basic repairs, and maintenance tasks. Additionally, you will be taught how to conduct entry-level Boat Maintenance tasks such as painting, hauling, and launching boats. Individuals displaying a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and competence with basic tasks will be given opportunities to learn more advanced skills with commensurate position, responsibilities, and pay.
You will be working directly with the team to perform tasks such as:
-Assisting in hauling boats from the water utilizing our crane or railway system
-Learning how to & performing surface preparation for paint, varnish etc. on boats
-Cleaning and detailing boats
-Learning how and performing maintenance on equipment & heavy machinery
-Assist with both facility & boat repairs including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, etc.
Job Requirements:
-Ability to do physical labor & potentially strenuous physical tasks
-Ability to lift & carry heavy objects such as equipment, tools, materials & supplies throughout the facility
-Ability to safely climb ladders & step-stools
-Reliable transportation to and from Shelter Island location
-Personal possession of hand tools & ability to perform basic maintenance skills- is a plus
