Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Janitor/Custodian to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in a classroom and daycare setting, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for children and adults. This is a good starting position for those working on getting their teaching credits or working towards the educational requirements of becoming a teacher in order to integrate into a daycare/educational setting and advance.
Duties
-Perform cleaning tasks in designated areas, including offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas.
-Conduct floor care activities such as sweeping and mopping to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
-Carry out custodial duties including trash removal, dusting surfaces, and sanitizing high-touch areas to promote hygiene.
-Assist with facilities maintenance tasks as needed to ensure the proper functioning of equipment and infrastructure.
-Support minor and touch up painting or repairs as needed.
-Act as a porter by ensuring that supplies are stocked and available for use throughout the premises.
-Maintain an organized supply closet and report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to management promptly.
Qualifications
-Previous experience in commercial or industrial cleaning is preferred but not mandatory.
-Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining cleanliness standards in a daycare setting.
-Responsible for ensuring items and learning tools are in their proper places, playground is safe and clean after use, and any issues are brought to management's attention.
-Good physical stamina; ability to lift moderate weights and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
-Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
-Must be comfortable in an environment with young children around and open to assisting in some non cleaning and non child related duties when needed (hanging up a dry erase board, removing staples from pegboards, helping with classroom decorating/hanging items up, etc.).
Job Type: Full-time
Hours: Monday-Friday 12pm-830pm.
Pay Range - $17-20 an hour depending on experience and skill.
Finger print clearance / clean background check required for this position
