Description:
San Diego Powder and Protective Coatings is a fast paced, family-owned business with 75+ employees for over 25 years, that’s serving a variety of products from civilian and military customers.
- Hours of operation: Monday-Friday 500 am -130 pm, + Overtime, with occasional Saturdays (40-50+ hours a week)
- Compensation depends on experience and capabilities with various blast techniques, C-7 certification, and or field blast experience. Looking for an experienced Sand Blaster for around $20-22 an hour. Company benefits include Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance, 401K, annual performance bonus, and across the street parking.
Responsibilities and Duties:
The Sand Blast position has the responsibility assisting SDPPC in a variety of functions. Including but not limited to:
Primary responsibility is to sand blast products to customer desired surface preparation; SP-10, SP-6.
Cleaning and maintaining of blast equipment.
Cleaning blast rooms; shovel and broom.
Sanding, masking, and hanging product.
Moving racks and products in and out of the blast booths, forklift experience is a bonus.
General Housekeeping as required.
Overtime and Saturdays are expected as workload dictates.
Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum 1 Year Sand Blast Experience Required.
Relevant experience operating sand blast equipment and knowledgeable about the major components of the blasting equipment/booth compressor, filters and personal protective equipment.
Able to determine types of substrates (steel, stainless steel, aluminum) material and thickness, and discern what level of psi nozzle size and distance to run.
Proven ability to understand work orders and properly blast parts according to specifications.
Prove strong work ethic and consistent on time attendance.
Proven ability to recommend process improvements.
Demonstrate ability to maintain organization and safety.
Proven ability to consistently meet production schedules.
Requirements:
Must be able to pass E-Verify.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Must be able to pass a drug test.
Must be able to perform basic math skills.
Must be able to read and write in English.
Must be able to understand quality standards and adhere to specific written and drawing instructions.
Must follow compliance and safety requirements and standards, including use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) daily.
Able to positively interact with customers and coworkers of all ages, different ethnic/cultural backgrounds and/or language, and individuals with special needs.
Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
Regular use of hands to finger, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl, walk, talk, and hear.
Occasionally sit, climb or balance
Frequently lift/move 10-25 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to work in outside weather conditions (hot, cold, wet and/or humid). Most job requirements take place in the warehouses, but some duties are outside the buildings.
Ability to obtain security clearance for military base access is a plus.
Certain positions will need to understand drawings, plans, and specifications.
Air Compressor familiarity is a plus.
