Must be able to:
Set Up Machines: Prepare and set up various machine tools (lathe, milling machine, etc.) for production.
Read Blueprints: Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to determine specifications and tolerances.
Measure and Inspect: Use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers) to check dimensions and ensure quality standards.
Operate Machines: Run machines to produce parts, adjusting settings as necessary to maintain precision.
Perform Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance on machines to keep them in optimal working condition.
Troubleshoot Issues: Identify and resolve any problems that arise during the machining process.
Collaborate with Team: Work with engineers and other team members to optimize processes and resolve production issues.
Document Work: Maintain records of production quantities, quality inspections, and machine settings.
Write Programs: Create and edit CNC programs using G-code or other programming languages to control machine operations.
Select Tools: Choose appropriate tools and materials based on the specifications of the project.
Simulate Processes: Use software to simulate machining processes and verify program accuracy before actual machining.
Optimize Processes: Analyze and refine machining processes for efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.
Set Up CNC Machines: Prepare CNC machines for operation, including tool changes and calibration.
Debug Programs: Troubleshoot and modify programs to correct any issues that arise during production.
Conduct Quality Control: Monitor production runs and conduct inspections to ensure parts meet specifications.
Maintain Documentation: Keep detailed records of programs, setups, and modifications for future reference
Create Toolpaths: Use Mastercam to design and generate toolpaths for CNC machines based on part geometry.
Model Design: Create 2D and 3D models using Mastercam's CAD features or import designs from other CAD software.
Simulate Machining Operations: Run simulations to visualize the machining process, ensuring no collisions and verifying toolpaths.
Generate CNC Programs: Output G-code and other machine-specific programming codes from Mastercam for CNC machines.
Optimize Toolpaths: Analyze and refine toolpaths to improve machining efficiency, reduce cycle times, and enhance surface finish.
Select Tools and Parameters: Determine appropriate cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and other parameters based on the material and design.
Collaborate with Engineers: Work closely with design and engineering teams to ensure manufacturability and adherence to specifications.
Troubleshoot Issues: Identify and resolve issues in toolpaths or machining operations during the programming or production process.
Maintain Documentation: Keep detailed records of toolpath designs, program versions, and any changes made for reference and quality control.
Stay Updated: Keep current with Mastercam updates and new features to improve programming skills and efficiency.
