Volunteer Coordination general duties
Recruit and organize the on-boarding of new volunteers. Training of new and existing volunteers. This includes providing a full, new volunteer orientation, current status, appropriate policies and procedures, reviewing safety protocols, completion of all volunteer paperwork and entering volunteer information into database and collection of any fees.
Maintain and update volunteer database and stay in contact with volunteers to increase retention.
Whenever possible, greet on-site volunteers and thank them for their help, and communicate with department managers to encourage ongoing volunteer appreciation.
Assist with planning and organizing special events, including recruiting and training volunteers to fill all needed roles to ensure each event is adequately staffed.
Regularly spend periods of time working side-by-side volunteers in order to ensure duties are being completed properly and providing volunteers with an opportunity to give feedback on their experiences. To ensure that volunteers are properly trained.
Organize and coordinate volunteer schedules, ensuring that volunteer needs are covered each day.
Identify and organize training and education opportunities for volunteers to help keep them engaged and introduce them to additional volunteer jobs with increasing responsibilities.
Assist in the Gift Shop
The Volunteer Coordinator has superb customer service skills and enjoys interacting with the volunteers and guests, and be “big picture” oriented. He/she is flexible and able to respond to multiple demands in a fast-paced environment where priorities are often shifting day-to-day. The Volunteer Coordinator is able to adapt quickly, stay focused and anticipate next steps.
The Volunteer Coordinator has the willingness and ability to commit to a varying schedule including early mornings, evenings and weekends as needed. The Volunteer Coordinator assists with and is on-site for all special events and donor functions as requested.

Ability to work both alone and with others. Is a team player.

Working Conditions
Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
Willingness to work in seasonally changing outdoor environments, including inclement weather conditions, heat, cold, and ability to navigate rough terrain.
Standing, walking, sitting, and occasionally bending over and repetitive use of hands and arms.
