I’m looking for someone part time to help me run my small but busy Music Store in Escondido. My ideal person, based on past hires, would be someone with some musical knowledge, currently going to college and living at home. At present, I need someone every Thursday from 1 to 7, Friday from 1 to 6 and Saturday from 11 to 4. Possibly also Tuesday from 1 to 7. So, 16 to 21 hours. I am used to working around employee’s school schedules. I can modify these times and days, if need be, so don’t pass this up if some of the hours are undoable right now. People with musical experience will get priority consideration although I have had great employees who have had zero experience with musical instruments. The ability to speak Spanish is also a huge plus, as is being able to maintain social media accounts. Lastly, please live in or close to Escondido. Because of the hours you will be needed, getting here from too far away will not be worth fighting the traffic.
Your main task will be customer service. You will book lessons for our 15 teachers, take in repairs, and sell music related merchandise. We also do a fair amount of instrument rentals so it will be your job to help customers fill out rental contracts. There is a little book keeping and accounting and some easy stuff in Quick Books. Also, light cleaning, vacuuming etc. You will also be trained on how to restring and tune guitars and violins which is why experience with an instrument is valuable.
I have been in business for 20 years and maintain some contact with most of my past employees. They have overwhelmingly found working here a positive experience. I have also been told that this job looks great on a resume. You will basically learn all the ins and out of running a small business and have a lot of responsibility. I am a super chill boss and all the teachers here are very nice and professional. This is a perfect first job. It does, however, take a lot of training to learn all the different tasks. Because of this, I need someone who will be around for at least two years. Please respect the fact that it will take a lot of my time to train you. Don’t apply if you know you are leaving soon.
