Materials Management Specialist

Outstanding Biotech company seeks Materials Management Specialist to manage the warehousing, procurement, inventory management, shipping and receiving activities for Company Technical Operations department. This will be a position located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego, CA. This position will report to the Head of External Mfg. /Supply Chain.

Responsibilities:

The Materials Manager will play a variety of roles based on experience, knowledge, and Company business requirements, which includes enterprise-wide materials and inventory management as well as supporting the procurement organization.

Provide leadership and technical expertise in inventory management, GMP warehousing operations, logistics, inspection, shipping & receiving, bill of materials management, and materials planning.

Oversee the planning, storage, control, and distribution of temperature sensitive raw materials and consumables to support enterprise-wide (R&D, CMC, GE Lab, and Pilot Lab) requirements.

Specific responsibilities include leading the day-day activities – Inspect, receive, identify, quarantine, store, handle, dispense, release, and issue raw materials, starting materials, intermediates, reagents, labels, GMP supplies and packaging materials.

Coordinate disposition of all expired materials and maintain applicable documentation.

Responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory (paper and electronic) and expiration for all GMP materials. Experience working with inventory management systems or ERP systems is a plus.

Experience and/or knowledge of implementing Kanban system and 5S procedures.

Work closely with the quality group to execute SOPs and business processes and participate in internal GMP inspections when needed.

Background in Planing, Sourcing, and Delivery functions of a clinical supply chain is a plus.

Experience in executing sourcing strategies of direct/ indirect materials, CROs, writing RFPs, supplier governance, and managing day-day procurement orders/invoices.

Support the leadership team to prepare the annual departmental budget.

Proficient in preparing executive communication reports and Power Point presentations.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

Theoretical knowledge typically achieved with a 4-year degree such as a Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field.

At least 5 years’ experience in Biotech Lab operations, inventory management and/or procurement and start-up environment.

Skills & Knowledge:

Knowledgeable in quality systems regulations and associated procurement, shipping & receiving, and inventory management procedures.

Proven ability to initiate, plan, and execute multiple projects effectively.

Strong communication, presentation, and teamwork skills.

Ability to work effectively and negotiate with colleagues.

Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and computer technology.
