Seeking a full time Research Biologist/Laboratory Manager to conduct lung cancer research projects that are funded by Federal grants. The successful candidate will perform a wide variety of duties in order to plan and complete the outlined experiments using:
1. In vitro cell/tissue cultures with aseptic techniques.
2. In vivo murine models, responsible for maintaining records, overseeing and cataloging data for each mouse; xenograft, gavage, harvest, procure, process, archive a variety of specimens, and perform necropsy as needed.
The Research Associate will also:
1. Conduct a variety of specialized and standard cellular and molecular assays, such as cell invasion/migration studies, ELISA, real time PCR arrays, Luminex proteomics profiling, analyses of complex, high throughput data from rnicroarrays such as HTA transcriptome arrays, RNA seq, perform flow cytometry, western blot, immunohistochemistry, and using IVIS for in vivo imaging of small animal models.
2. Obtain, interpret, and process assay results; maintain excellent records of experiments and results; prepare statistical and narrative reports of experimental data.
3. Process, archive and maintain biorepository for preclinical and clinical samples.
4. Perform literature search, prepare presentations and manuscripts on research findings.
5. Maintain laboratory and obtain regulatory approvals according to institutional standards.
6. Help the PI with progress report and grant submission.
7. Making purchasing decisions for the lab; assist lab employees in problem resolution by interacting with vendors to resolve any questions or conflicts.
8. Maintain laboratory and designated common use equipment.
9. Train other technicians or investigators new to the facility concerning experimental procedures and the proper use of equipment,
10. Maintain an inventory of laboratory reagents and supplies, oversee maintenance for laboratory equipment and order new supplies for the laboratory.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate must have key experiences/skills required for the areas of investigation, good communication skills, and will be able to work independently in all areas of the research laboratory.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Preferred education: Ph.D. in Life Sciences.
