LIGHTNING SMOG
Job Summary:
Part-time customer facing test only smog inspection technician who also processes basic DMV registration services.
General Accountabilities:
Answer phones, book appointments, and keep a schedule
Greet customers with a friendly introduction
Review pricing with customers and suggestively offer our additional services in a low-pressure environment (no sales quotas)
Assist customers with service contract write-ups meanwhile building rapport
Maneuver customer vehicles throughout the premises to stage them for service (including manual transmission vehicles)
Check vehicles in for service
Perform thorough smog inspections on all 1976+ model year vehicles (most inspections are 1996 and newer model year vehicles)
Use industry research materials to make difficult decisions relating to questionable smog related scenarios
Go into thorough detail helping customers understand the nature of a smog related failure
Perform registration services including, but not limited to: Registration renewals, title transfers, and replacement inventory requests (no experience necessary)
Perform cashiering duties
Interact with account decision makers and discuss business situations, policies, and procedures
Perform side-work during downtime including, but not limited to: Various cleaning/sanitization tasks, general shop repair and maintenance tasks, organizing and administrative tasks, etc.

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education (One of these must be met):
High school diploma or greater
GED
Certifications (Required):
Valid smog inspector license with no history of BAR citations
Current and consistent FPR score of 0.40 or higher
Experience:
High volume OIS and BAR97 smog inspection experience required
Registration services experience a plus, but not required
Miscellaneous:
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Must pass FBI and DOJ background checks required by the DMV for our registration services business
Must be available to work during all operating hours as needed
Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.

26 hours/week on average
10am-7pm shifts currently available
