Job description
A well-established lumberyard is seeking a Yard Clerk/ Mill Operator. A viable candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, possess some yard/lumber/cabinet shop experience, good communication skills, a high school diploma or equivalent, and pass a pre-employment physical, including a drug and alcohol screening. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Working with lumber, plywood, molding, and other building materials
Loading lumber and other materials into or onto vehicles, trucks, lumber racks, and/or trailers in an effective and efficient manner
Operate forklift, adhering to Company safety policies
Completes necessary reports (order forms, tally sheets, etc.)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to constantly move around yard/office throughout day
Ability to consistently move boxes/other materials (up to 50 pounds)
Ability to operate forklift
WORKING CONDITIONS
Outdoor working environment
Occasional time working in sales office
Physically demanding position- requires heavy lifting and operation of equipment and heavy machinery
PREFERENCES
Previous experience in lumber industry (hardwood/Softwood) or cabinet shop.
Ability to take direction and work independently
Must be physically and mentally able to perform essential duties of function without excessive absences
